2. CELEBRITY CHALLENGES (MC HAMMER)

MC Hammer, the iconic rapper, and entertainer known for his hit song "U Can't Touch This," has participated in a variety of challenges and projects involving celebrities over the years.

Remembered for a rapid rise to fame, Hammer has also been an entrepreneur and celebrity spokesperson.

A multi-award winner, Hammer is considered a "forefather" and pioneering innovator of pop rap (incorporating elements of freestyle music).

Hammer grew up in a working-class neighborhood in Oakland. As a child, he sold baseballs and danced outside Oakland Coliseum to earn money.

Hammer worked as a batboy for the Oakland Athletics in his youth. Players nicknamed him "Hammer" due to his resemblance to baseball legend "Hammerin'" Hank Aaron.

Hammer rose to fame with his third album, Please Hammer Don’t Hurt ’Em (1990), which became one of the best-selling rap albums of all time.

"U Can’t Touch This": This single, built on a sample of Rick James’ "Super Freak," became a worldwide phenomenon and won two Grammy Awards.

Hammer’s energetic performances and signature "Hammer Dance" solidified his place in pop culture.

Hammer brought rap music into the mainstream, making it accessible to a broader audience.

Known for his flamboyant outfits, including oversized parachute pants, Hammer's fashion became synonymous with 90s hip-hop.

His catchphrases, moves, and music videos have been referenced and parodied in countless films, TV shows, and commercials.

As gangsta rap and grittier hip-hop styles gained prominence in the mid-1990s, Hammer's upbeat and commercially friendly music was seen as outdated.

Hammer filed for bankruptcy in 1996 after overspending on a lavish lifestyle, including a $30 million mansion and employing hundreds of people. As the hip-hop scene shifted towards gangsta rap, Hammer's upbeat style became less prominent.

Hammer became an ordained minister and used his platform to spread positivity.

He explored technology and social media, even launching a tech startup.

Despite his challenges, Hammer remains a beloved cultural icon, often celebrated for his contributions to music and entertainment.

Hammer paved the way for future rap artists by showing that hip-hop could dominate mainstream music. His influence is evident in modern rap and dance, as well as in artists who blend flashy style with crossover appeal. All support information from Googles.
